What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their wedding entertainment?

Think about what it is you’re after – do you want ceremony music and cocktail hour or just a live band for reception? Then choose a band who can meet ALL your needs. Just like any other area of expertise, booking professionals will get you the best outcome. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice on what songs work, suggestions for your special moments, how best to integrate live music sets into your run sheet and what you can expect from the band. It is also a great idea to see the band live or and meet the band manager/musician who will be present on your big day.

What is your favourite song?

May we (pretty please) pick two?

Eva Cassidy’s version of Songbird for wedding ceremonies – absolutely beautiful.

And for the band reception, the current band fave is HAPPY by Pharrell Williams – it’s a great pick for your bridal party entry!

What do you love most about playing at weddings?

What is there not to love? Firstly, we feel honoured to be part of such a special day. It is so lovely to see family and friends come together to celebrate love. We also really enjoy getting all the guests up and dancing! Weddings are so much fun; everyone’s always looking fabulous and ready to party!

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

You can expect to see us performing vintage music LIVE throughout the day with our tailored combination of jazz, blues and rockabilly songs. In between sets, we will be available at the stand to discuss your upcoming wedding as well as showcase videos of the full band in action. We may even have some mints and lollies J

Are you running any specials on the day?

Can you tell us a bit about being a celebrant?

Being a celebrant is a fun and exciting role in a wedding, but sometimes often left as an afterthought – the part where people are like, let’s just do it short and sweet and get it over with. In some ways I agree, however I think that approach may have come about because the offerings that celebrants have previously been giving are not tailored, modern or fun. Nothing was different from wedding to wedding and no one seemed to be enjoying themselves. I am changing that up. The ceremony should be the start of the fun of the wedding not the boring part you get through to be able to party!

Monika Branley Photography

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

I am based in North West Sydney but I travel all over Sydney for booking meetings and all over NSW for weddings (travel fee required).
How would you describe your style?

My favourite type of wedding to be a part of is one that is relaxed and personal. Wedding ceremonies set the tone for the whole day and are generally the first step on the journey that is your wedding day. It should reflect your relationship and your personalities.

Be bold. Be different. Be yourself when it comes to your ceremony. Be fun, enjoy yourself and let me help you get there! 🙂

There are lots of celebrants that can officiate a ceremony;  I like to be a part of those weddings with a story that make a statement about love with personality!
Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - Milestone & Co

Monika Branley Photography

What advice do you have for couples choosing their celebrant?

Pick someone that fits with you. Your ceremony is the most emotional part of your day and the most focal point, everyone is watching this one event at the one time. If you don’t feel comfortable and relaxed with your celebrant it will show.

When should couples book with you at the very latest?

Legal paperwork for weddings needs to be completed at least 1 month and 1 day prior to your wedding date. However bookings for celebrants fill up quickly as generally I only do one wedding a day, so my advice is, it is never too early to book me!
What is your favourite wedding story?

A bride and groom who played paper scissors rock to decide who would say their vows first – during the ceremony!
Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - Milestone & Co

What do you love most about being a celebrant?

Creating a ceremony that is what the couple want. Telling a story about a relationship that is so special to them and having their friends and family share in that. I love being a different celebrant, a modern young fun celebrant!

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

A fun bubbly celebrant who wants to chat with them about their ceremony that can be anything they want it to be!

The Vintage Tea Lady

Can you tell us a bit about The Vintage Tea Lady?

I’ve always had a passion for collecting old bits and pieces. In fact, I bought my first piece of vintage furniture when I was 20 and just recently sold it 30 years later. There is something really special about sharing old pieces. I love the look of a friend’s initial surprise when sharing a cup of tea in an old tea cup; this is usually a brand new experience for most people. I then thought of ways I could do this on a larger scale. I was completely surprised that there was a market for it – I have obviously been living under a rock! So for me, The Vintage Tea Lady is about sharing my passion and watching others be delighted in something as simple as having a cup of tea!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - The Vintage Tea Lady

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

We are based in Lilyfield in the Inner West. We service all areas of Sydney, and offer free delivery and pick-up within a 10km radius.

Can you give us a run down on how to hire the goodies that you have and what options couples have with you?

You can find The Vintage Tea Lady via my website which has all my contact details. I’m also on Facebook and Instagram. My website has an amazing picture gallery of my china collection which is quite whimsical in nature, but you should be able to find something you love. I’m also completely flexible; there is no minimum hire and packages are available for 6 and 10 guests. I also offer styling services, and can source and deliver catering from our local community.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - The Vintage Tea Lady

Do you have a favourite vintage piece and what is the story behind it?

Personally, my favourite piece is a Sadler teapot which was a wedding gift at my parents wedding, 63 years ago. I can’t recall it ever being used, just looking at it takes me back to my childhood. This piece is not for hire though. From my collection, my favourite piece is a blue tea set from Royal Albert. The design is called Harebell and is from the 1930s. It’s simply stunning. I bought it from a lady in Melbourne who said the tea set sat in the cabinet for decades “just waiting to be used”. I almost didn’t want to tell her that the set would be hired out, but she was thrilled that someone would at last enjoy it.

What advice do you have for brides when they are thinking about their high tea styling?

Consider the type of occasion such as a bridal party and parents get together, bridal shower, hens weekend or the wedding reception. Consider using flowers and vintage candlesticks to create height on the table and lots of foliage to tie it together. Also, consider dressing the table in linen, satin, lace or hessian. Is there a particular colour theme? Alternatively, the eclectic nature of vintage china means many colours can work together. Vintage china is also delightful in boho designs creating a decadent feel using reds, golds, velvets and foliage.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - The Vintage Tea Lady

What is your favourite wedding story?

Probably my own…some 20 years ago I had an afternoon tea wedding reception. Guests were greeted by the classic sounds of a cello and violin. I wore a beautiful ivory vintage inspired silk gown, and replaced the veil with a wreath of pastel roses. It was a magical day.

What do you love most about styling beautiful high teas?

There are no rules and you can be as whimsical or as structured as you like. Personally, I love to be eclectic using flowers and foliage to tie it all together. I also love using just white china which showcases simple classic style and highlights the divine food.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - The Vintage Tea Lady

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

Hopefully be amazed by the beauty of vintage china. I will style a table with a traditional high tea set up (with some eclectics thrown in) which will showcase the beautiful china, flowers and vintage linen.

Are you running any specials on the day?

We are offering 20% off any confirmed bookings from fair attendees. Also, we will be offering a chance to win $200 worth of vintage china hire. This will quite easily be enough for a high tea for 20 guests.

Frankie’s Girl

Can you tell us a bit about Frankie’s Girl?

I started Frankie’s Girl about a year ago as a creative outlet after working in corporate design and marketing for almost 15 years. It is a bespoke design business specialising in events, also creating favours and props. Born from the encouragement and support from the love of my life, Frank, I now create wedding invitations and stationery to help other couples set the scene for their perfect day.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - Frankies Girl

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

I am based in Sydney however I service all of Australia. After an initial chat either in person or over the phone, most of the correspondence is through email as I update my clients through every stage. There are so many other bridal appointments leading up to a wedding, so I like to keep the process as simple as possible. Any questions and queries along the way are always welcome.

How would you describe your style?

Rustic chic with modern accents. I also love using hand written elements within the designs and often will pair contemporary fonts with vintage printing techniques. As most of my invitations are custom designed, I can create a suite that will suit any theme or style and will work with you to find the right print for your budget.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - Frankies Girl

What advice do you have for couples choosing their invitation suite?

Trends will come and go so I believe it’s best to discuss or choose a style that is a true reflection of the two of you. The invitation is the first glimpse the guests will receive of the wedding so you are giving them a taste of what’s to come. Carrying on your chosen theme throughout your day with matching table decor, seating charts, favours, etc, ties the event together.

For last minute bookings – When should couples book with you at the very latest?

I would advise to book in 4 – 6 weeks before the date you want to send your invites out. This will allow enough time to discuss the design, create it, send it to print and have it delivered to you. Generally the time to send the invite is 6 – 8 weeks prior to the wedding.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - Frankies Girl

What do you love most about creating beautiful wedding invitations?

The reaction a bride or groom has after seeing their invite for the first time. Bringing their vision to life and being able to contribute to their special day is definitely the most exhilarating part of the process.

What is your favourite wedding story?

Would it sound corny if I said my own? Seven years ago I married my sweetheart with a classic themed wedding complete with a traditional church service and it was just perfection. As most people agree, the day went by in a flash but the lifetime of memories (or life sentence as he refers to it :)) remain.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - Frankies Girl

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

Invitations and related stationery, favours, wedding props and sweet little ideas including how to ask your bridal party to stand by your side, inspiration and of course loads of advice so don’t be afraid to ask questions!!

Are you running any specials on the day?

We are offering 20% off the cost of the custom design element of the invitations (print not included) if you book on the day.

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

My studio is based in Burwood where Sydney brides-to-be are welcome to come visit and try on my collections or chat about having a custom piece made. I also have an eboutique where brides from around Australia and around the world can purchase from.

Can you give us a run down on how to order your jewellery/accessories and what options brides have with you?

Brides can order pieces from my ready-to-wear collection via the eboutique and receive in the mail within a week. Many styles from the ready-to-wear collection are also available in custom colours. I love helping the bride find materials to match their bridesmaid dresses.

If a bride would like a custom piece made, they can email me or come into my studio. I usually need at least a month to design and make a custom piece.

When do brides have to order their wedding jewellery/accessories at the very latest?

For custom designs, brides should allow 1-2 months. For those last minute brides, they can order jewellery & accessories from the eboutique and receive in the mail within a week.

What advice do you have for brides when they are thinking about their wedding jewellery/accessories?

I think it is good to pick one key element from their wedding gown to match their jewellery & accessories to. This helps refine their look without being over the top. For example lace headpieces are great with a lace gown, or floral detailed jewellery goes well with floral embellishments on the gown. Brides should also think about their face shape and neckline of their gown when choosing earrings and necklaces.

What is your favourite jewellery piece?

My favourite at the moment are hand pieces! It’s a ring and bracelet in one! I love the boho style and it’s a statement piece that I like to wear with a nice manicure.

What do you love most about creating jewellery/accessories?

What I love most about creating jewellery is that it allows me to push my imagination and experiment, to bring an idea to life! I also love the moment my bride first sees her custom made piece, her eyes just glimmer with excitement and I enjoy sharing a part of their special journey.

The Barefaced Bride

Can you tell us a bit about The Barefaced Bride?
The Barefaced Bride is my “second baby” (a labour of love) and a specialised bridal service that sells and consigns preloved designer gowns, vintage wedding dresses and period head-pieces and veils. It’s such a passion of mine! I really wanted to create a private and welcoming space for brides to come and choose from a wide variety of wedding dresses (both designer and one-off vintage pieces). My bridal studio gives brides the opportunity to do just that! There is definitely a gap in the market for vintage wedding gowns and I hope to offer brides an affordable alternative to the traditional wedding dress.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - The Barefaced Bride

Where are you based?
My bridal studio is based in Kurnell, south of Sydney.

What kind of dresses are you selling?
We sell preloved designer, designer samples and have a unique hand-picked collection of one-off vintage dresses dating back to the 1930s through to the 1980s. We also have a selection of period vintage headpieces and veils, specifically from the 1970s.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - The Barefaced Bride

What advice do you have for brides choosing their wedding dress?
It’s a bit of a clique, however a dress can look SO different on the rack or hanger, so be open to trying on different styles, fabrics and silhouettes when trying on gowns. You can then narrow your search based on dresses that speak to you. It’s good to know what you don’t like as well as what you do. Most importantly, be open-minded and have fun!

Do you alter wedding dresses?
We don’t do any alterations in-house, however we directly refer our clients to bridal gown alteration specialists and dressmakers. We will offer guidance and advice on alterations then refer brides to a professional seamstress who have over 20 years industry experience in made to measure and custom design.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - The Barefaced Bride

What do you love most about selling pre loved wedding dresses?
I love hearing the stories from past brides about dresses that arrive in, and then sharing those stories with brides-to-be. Our vintage gowns in particular hold a sense of history and it’s always exciting to see another bride’s shared love of a special vintage piece and who doesn’t love seeing that “yes” moment when you know they’ve found the “one”?!

What is your favourite wedding story?
My own of course! Your wedding day is such a personal reflection of two people in love, so every story is unique in their own special way. I do love hearing stories from brides about how they’ve met their partner and details about their big day. It always makes me want to do it all over again!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Sydney - The Barefaced Bride

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?
Couples can expect to see a gorgeous selection of one-off vintage dresses and bridal accessories!

Are you running any specials on the day?
Yes, we are planning to offer brides who book in appointments with us a “free gift” with any dress purchased.
