For last minute bookings – when do couples have to book in for your beautiful flowers and props at the very latest?

As soon as possible!! I’ve done weddings with a fortnights notice but wedding seasons book out well in advance.

What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their wedding flowers and styling?

Consider seasonal flowers and when you’ve briefed your chosen vendor trust them to execute your vision.

What is your favourite wedding story?

Hmmm. Right now it’s my wedding story! Matt and I met 10 years ago, had four children, bought our home and are just now getting to the wedding part. We’re having a camping wedding weekend in the Yarra Valley with heaps of kids, awesome food and music and LOTS of flowers. So many flowers…

What do you love most about being a wedding florist and stylist?

I absolutely love the process of putting together all the pieces of the design puzzle and then the satisfaction when it’s realised on the day is indescribable. I love my job 🙂

Lord Coconut

Can you tell us a bit about Lord Coconut?

Lord Coconut is Melbourne’s only retailer, gallery, and online boutique selling handcrafted contemporary jewellery designed exclusively for men. We specialise in hand made wedding rings for men and have over 70 styles in stock at any one time. As we represent over 40 Australian based jewellers, designers and artisans, there are usually over 500 men’s jewellery pieces in store and online at any one time.  As for the name Lord Coconut, it is rumoured that he was my great great grandfather and a brief story on his life and how he became known as Lord Coconut can be found on our website.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Lord Coconut

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

We are based in the Melbourne CBD but we ship throughout Australia and the world via our online store
Can you give us a run down on how to order your jewellery and what options grooms have with you?

If you are based in Melbourne, it’s best to come into the store where we can go through the wedding rings one by one. We’ll encourage you to create a list of potential rings. Usually grooms find between three to six that they like. From the short-list its then usually a case of narrowing the choices down until you have found the perfect ring. As we have so many styles, in different metals, different finishes and different widths, you soon get to know what style, width, metal, and finish you like best. As all of our rings are made in Australia, we can also modify designs if required. Once you have decided on the ring, we take your ring size and if you are making a decision on the day, it’s 50% deposit to get the ring started with the balance due when you pick up the ring.

If you are ordering online, we encourage everyone to get their finger measured at a reputable jewellery store so that when you order your chosen ring online we know it will be the perfect fit.

If we don’t have what you want, all of our jewellers can make custom rings to your design. For fully custom rings it may be an extra one to two weeks than normal.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Lord Coconut

When do grooms have to order their wedding jewellery at the very latest?

As each ring is made to order to ensure the perfect fit and it takes our local jewellers two to three weeks to make up your ring, I tend to recommend you order your ring at least 4 weeks out from your wedding day. We have been known to get a ring through in about a week if required but that isn’t ideal as if something goes wrong, you’ll be without a ring on your wedding day.

What advice do you have for grooms when they are thinking about their wedding jewellery?

Choose a ring that you love. You’ll be wearing it for a long time so make sure it means something to you. Too often guys end up with a generic ring from a High Street jewellery store which doesn’t really reflect how they live their life or who they are. Take a chance and find something that you love which is Australian made. All of our rings are made by local jewellers, artisans and designers and their rings have a bit of personality about them. Much like the groom.

When it comes to cufflinks, choose something with a bit of personality. I still wear my wedding cufflinks after 17 years of marriage. Every time I put them on I’m reminded of my wedding day and how it was unique to us.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Lord Coconut

What is your favourite jewellery piece?

I don’t have one favourite jewellery piece as it changes each week. I have an extensive collection of cufflinks. Each week I re-discover an old favourite.
What do you love most about creating jewellery for men?

I don’t create the jewellery myself, I leave that to the 40 plus highly skilled jewellers who I represent in the store. My love is being able to provide an opportunity for these talented artisans to sell their jewellery.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Lord Coconut

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

Couples can expect to see an extensive collection of Australian made wedding rings for men. The stand will have over 50 rings on show along with a small selection of our cufflinks and tie bars. We stock too many items in-store to bring them all on the day. The stand will mirror the look and feel evident in our retail space and online store.

Are you running any specials on the day?

We will be offering 25% off any cufflink purchase when you purchase a wedding ring from us.

Kate & Rose

Can you tell us a bit about Kate & Rose?

I love all things vintage, particularly teacups, plates, & glassware. With a strong love of up cycling & breathing life into dusty old china Kate & Rose was born.
Cake plates are up cycled into tiered and pedestal cake stands. Teacups are transformed into new homes for lovely soy candles.

It’s wonderful to work with brides to be to help them find or create that vintage piece that will add a touch of nostalgia and magic to their special day.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Kate & Rose

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

I’m based in Kensington, Melbourne Victoria.  I service Australia wide, many of my clients come from Perth and Sydney.

Can you give us a run down on how to order the goodies that you have and what options couples have with you?

Mmmm so many goodies.  Vintage up cycled china and glass cake stands.  Vintage teacups and glass ware set with soy candles fragranced with essential oils or fragrance oils. Oh so cute vintage silver plated cutlery hand stamped with your chosen words, e.g. Mr and Mrs, friends, tea party.  Sweet gifts for brides maids e.g. plate china necklaces and tea party inspired jewellery.

You can order via my Etsy store, however, as my items are often one of and bespoke I am regularly showcasing products on my facebook page

I love to work with clients to find them the right china either by colour, pattern or maker for their special piece.  Whether it be an upcycled cake stand or teacup candle, or prop.  Likewise, I’m happy to take a clients existing vintage china and up cycle those pieces.  It may be mum or grandma’s special vintage plates. It’s so nice if your own family history can be woven into your special day.  It may be the teacup you drank out of as a child.  How special to have that incorporated into your wedding day.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Kate & Rose

Do you have a favourite vintage piece and what is the story behind it?

Oh a beautiful demitasse coffee set in lipstick pink.  I bought it off an elderly couple who were in the process of downsizing. It was a wedding gift to them over 50 years ago and although they no longer felt they had the space or use for it, the husband seemed a little sad to say good bye to it. In turn I haven’t been able to part with it and to date it has been a vintage prop.  I think for this one there may be an option to hire it, as I think it would be so special to have it included in someone else’s special day.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Kate & Rose

What is your favourite wedding story?

I think my own parents love story.  My mum met my dad when she was just 14 and went on her first date.  He was six years older and didn’t realise just how young she was and dropped her like a hot potatoe at the end of the date once he found out.  They met again at a dance when she was 18.  Mum said when she saw him across the dance floor she knew that was the man she would marry even though he had broken her heart all those years ago.  And just one year later they married.  I just love the lovely photos of that 1950’s wedding.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Kate & Rose

What do you love most about creating beautiful vintage treasures?

Breathing new life back into old dusty pieces that my have been languishing at the back of a cupboard.

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

To see high tea party inspiration.  To be wowed by vintage pretty and be slightly transported to yesteryear where vintage china tinkled, ladies exchanged gossip and wow if that china could talk!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Oh Perfect Day

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

Can you give us a run down on how to hire the goodies that you have and what options couples have with you?

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Oh Perfect Day

Do you have a favourite vintage piece and what is the story behind it?

It would be hard to pick just one piece from all the little lovelies we have on offer in our Hire Boutique.  However, one that springs to mind is ‘Celeste’, a gorgeous antique feature table found at a vintage market.   Celeste’s pink hues and shabby chic style are delightful.  She was a steal as she was in very vintage condition – but that’s why we love her.  The more character our items have the better in our mind.

What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their wedding styling?

Firstly, it would be not to get overwhelmed by all the options, ideas and gorgeous inspiration out there.  From wedding magazines and blogs through to the highly addictive Instagram and Pinterest, it can be difficult to make sense of it all and create something cohesive that feels right for you.

Go back to the basics.  Look at your personal style, the home wares you buy, the labels you love, the magazines you subscribe to, your weekend haunts and draw inspiration from there.   This will help to cut through all the pretty ‘noise’ that you’re drowning and ensure that your style concept is unique (because who wants a wedding that’s  a clone of every other?).

Secondly, it would be to go for it! Don’t worry about what other couples are doing, and don’t worry about rules that don’t make sense for you.  There’s not too many celebrations in life that are as big or as special as your wedding day.  It’s a unique opportunity to celebrate the love and commitment you share with the love of your life, to indulge in beautiful things, to look and feel amazing, to express your own sense of style and to really knock your guests’ socks off!

Thirdly, it would be to breath.  Creating a wedding that goes beyond the ordinary and really makes a statement takes a lot of time, expertise and dedication.   And rest assured, every other bride (and the odd groom) is feeling equally as overwhelmed by it all.

If you’re not sure you have the spare time or the confidence to draw up a style concept, consult with florists, source decor and furniture hire items, consider colour palettes and lighting options, design backdrops or choose coordinating glassware get an expert on board …it will be the best investment you make.  You’re not going to regret that your day was totally gorgeous, utterly impressive, fabulously fun and completely stress free!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Oh Perfect Day

What is your favourite wedding story?

It would be difficult to pick one.  Any wedding that wholeheartedly celebrates what a couple shares  together  in a personal way is beautiful.  We love weddings where the couple and their family and friends absolutely, unreservedly have a ball on their big day.

It’s the weddings that stand out from the crowd because they truly reflect the couple and who they are our favourites.  Hands down.

What do you love most about being a wedding stylist?

Apart from all the swoon worthy furniture, florals, details and decor (which we are totally obsessed with),  the best part is turning what a couple has been dreaming of into reality.   We love it when the bride walks down the aisle or a couple walks into their reception and everything around them is their kind of perfect …just as they imagined it.

Additionally, it would have to be bringing a concept together into something that surprises, delights and entertains … an experience rather than just another wedding.

Lovely Day Films

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Lovely Day Films

Do you travel for weddings?

Indeed I do! My passport is ready and there’s fuel in the car.

How would you describe your style?

It’s completely natural, I’ll capture your day as it unfolds. I won’t make you do anything awkward or weird, I won’t direct you, I don’t need to! I’m a fly on the wall capturing your day as it happens.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Lovely Day Films

Why do you think videography is such an important part of a couple’s big day?

I think that a wedding film is the ultimate “home movie”, the only difference is that it’s beautifully made and edited, and features all of your favourite friends having the best day ever. Your wedding day is crazy, amazing, and it will fly by, so to have a film made is to make the most epic and precious diary entry you’ll ever have.

What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their videography?

Think about what you actually want from the film, not what might be traditional or expected. If you want a lot of coverage of you just hanging out, you can do that. If you want a short film set to music, that’s awesome too. Think of your favourite things to do as a couple and how they might fit into the film. Watch a lot of videos and see which types you like. I highly recommend looking for videographers who have a candid style because in years to come it’s the “real” moments that you’ll treasure, not the set up or directed ones.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Lovely Day Films

What do you love most about creating beautiful wedding videos?

I get to be dropped into a couples world when they are having the best day, the excitement and the happiness in the air is contagious. It’s a lot of hard work, but to create something that a couple just love and will treasure forever is incredibly satisfying.

Do you have a favourite wedding video?  What is the story behind it?

I have so many favourites, don’t make me choose! I will tell you about one very special wedding I filmed earlier this year. Brad and Ellie married on their family’s beautiful property set on the edge of a rain forest. They are both very creative and hand made pretty much everything for the big day, including an incredible arch made from branches found on the property. But as gorgeous as these details are, what really made the day special in my eyes is just how generous, lovely and welcoming their friends and family were to me. Being able to establish this connection enabled me to make a film that truly represented their day.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Lovely Day Films

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

I’ll have a bunch of different films and photos albums they can have a look at, featuring some pretty amazing weddings. Even if a couple decides that video isn’t for them, it’ll definitely be worthwhile watching a few for inspiration.

Are you running any specials on the day?

Sure am! I’ll have some amazing photo/video combo packages that are only available for couples who attend the expo, as well as an engagement shoot giveaway up for grabs.

Maureena Tilley – Civil Marriage Celebrant

Can you tell us a bit about being a celebrant?

To be a Celebrant is to share in one of the most beautiful days in the life of a couple who love each other. No two ceremonies are ever the same, as each ceremony reflects the individuality of each couple. My goal is expressed in my motto – making moments memorable.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Maureena Tilley Civil Marriage Celebrant

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

Whilst I live in Bayside Melbourne, I happily travel to many country areas and have therefore conducted ceremonies   throughout the state.

How would you describe your style?

The ceremonies I conduct are as close as possible, to what the couple envisage.  I present with enthusiasm, dedication light-heartedness and sincerity, and hopefully with warmth and skill akin to the needs of the couple.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Maureena Tilley Civil Marriage Celebrant

What advice do you have for couples choosing their celebrant?

It is so important that the couple to be married feel comfortable with the person who is to play such an important role in their day; that they trust the experience, skill   and wisdom of the celebrant, and that they feel they can arrive on their wedding day knowing all they need do, is to be there for each other.

When should couples book with you at the very latest?

It is wise to make a booking six to twelve months in advance. Legally the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM must be signed off thirty days prior to the wedding. Most couples however, wisely complete this document several months beforehand.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Maureena Tilley Civil Marriage Celebrant

What is your favourite wedding story?

I have celebrated so many beautiful and memorable occasions. One which comes to mind is when, after the bride had walked down the aisle and was hugging her father, she then turned to see   her ninety-nine years old grandfather walking towards her. He had made the flight from China unbeknown to her, as a surprise. There were many tears shed that day.

What do you love most about being a celebrant?

To be a celebrant is to carry out a most important and privileged role. It is such a delight to help a couple  plan a ceremony, the memory of which, the couple  will hold forever, and one which will be a joy  to all present.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Melbourne - Maureena Tilley Civil Marriage Celebrant
