Cory Rossiter Photography

Can you tell us a bit about Cory Rossiter Photography?

I have been a photographer for many years, as a member of the AIPP, I photograph weddings in the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast & Toowoomba.  I have photographed probably around 300 weddings and still love it!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Cory Rossiter Photography Do you travel for weddings?

Absolutely!  I love travelling, it gives a great sense of excitement to the wedding.  I love photographing new locations, it is inspiring to me as a photographer – and I get great shots as everything is new and fresh.  I recently shot a wedding in Bali which was an amazing experience, and the wedding photos were some of my best work.   How would you describe your style? Vintage, Quirky, fun, spontaneous, photojournalistic… and definitely not cheesy!   I love working with people who are willing to forgo a little tradition and trend and concentrate on what is important.  Private moments, nervous glances, quiet tears, family, friends and laughter.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Cory Rossiter Photography How early should couples book with you?

If you want to guarantee a spot, then I should think around 1 year in advance.  However I have had couples ring 8 weeks before and have been lucky to secure a spot (although I wouldn’t recommend this!!  Some people are so laid back!)

Why do you think photography is such an important part of a couple’s big day?

Apart from memories, the photos are the one tangible thing that you have forever…

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Cory Rossiter Photography What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their photography?

Before you book a photographer make sure you do some research to make sure you have the right person.  Don’t be mesmerised by the one or two shots they are using in their advertising.  Ask to see a whole wedding album. I have photographed in torrential rain, cyclonic winds and 47 degree heat.  Nothing much deters me anymore.    This is something that should be a major point when searching for a photographer.  Although rain does make it a little more difficult… a good photographer should still find inspiration.  Make sure you ask your photographer how they handle different weather events, and ask to see examples.

What is your favourite thing about photography?

Photography to me is my life.  Its the way I express my creativity, my thoughts, my mood.  I am so lucky that I get to do what I love everyday!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Cory Rossiter Photography Do you have a favourite wedding photograph?  What is the story behind it?

I took a shot back in 2010 with the wedding couple on the runway & a plane flying above them.  The groom was a pilot, & we arranged to have shots with the plane on the ground… however last minute I thought it would be great to have the plane flying above them.  It was just spontaneous… we found a friend to fly the plane, and it just worked out!  However the noise was horrendous!!

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

I will be there to have a chat and discuss anything to do with wedding photography!  I am not a salesman…. I believe that you must create a relationship/connection with clients in order to produce great shots. I look forward to seeing you there!

White Thistle

Can you tell us about White thistle?

My name is Christine and I am the floral designer at White Thistle- a studio- based wedding and event florist. I live and breathe wedding florals, and the studio setting means I can focus all of my time and energy onto my wedding and event clients. The name White Thistle is a nod to my Scottish heritage, particularly my grandmother, in whose garden I spent a lot of my childhood, sparking my passion for flowers.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - White Thistle

KC Fotographie

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

I am based on the inner South side of Brisbane, will travel. I am happy to go anywhere really, but my normal service range is from the Sunny Coast on the North, to Northern NSW on the South, and West to Ipswich, Toowoomba and the Lockyer valley etc. Anywhere I can get there and back by car in a day- I will venture.

How would you describe your style?

I would say I am mostly drawn to create elegant florals, with a touch of whimsy.  I love textural, natural arrangements, and elements that work together- sometimes unexpectedly- to bring out the best in each other.  I love the softness of vintage elements in wedding florals.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - White Thistle Do you have a favourite flower?

I have a new favourite flower about every 5 seconds! As the seasons change I am continually inspired and reunited with old friends time and time again. But if I had to choose- my all time favourites are- violets, garden roses, sweet peas, hellebores, clematis, tuberose and thryptomene.

How early should couples book in for your beautiful flowers?

It depends a little on what they are after, and also if couples are getting married on a less popular day, like midweek or a Sunday- I have more of those times free.  I am filling well into next year, so if couples like my like my style I would advise ASAP.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - White Thistle What do you think are the upcoming trends for 2014/2015 weddings?

I’m not really huge on trends, but I am seeing a lot of hanging, draping florals still, which I love. There is still a lot of garden style bouquets, and prom style corsages or wreaths instead of bouquets for the bridal party seem to be making a comeback too. I  would personally love to see a return to some of the lesser seen mid century and older styles of bouquets, like trailing bouquets, crescent bouquets, and composite bouquets- in which many single petals are individually wired to look like huge single rose. Very labour intensive but utterly gorgeous!

What advice would you give couples when thinking about their wedding flowers?

A few little things-

  • What would you like flowers to convey? Flowers are such a huge visual element in your wedding day, it helps if you picture what you would like them to say, will they make a big statement, or be more subtle? This has to be balanced with boring but very important things like your budget- flowers cost money and your dream florals may not fit in with the amount you have budgeted for them. Having a clear idea of these things will really help with the planning stages.
  •  What will your flowers mean to you? It’s nice to sometimes put a few little personal touches into your floral styling, for example, a flower cut from a loved one’s garden tucked into your bouquet or a particular type of flower or foliage that is meaningful to you in some way is a lovely touch.
  •  What type of wedding are you having?- What style of dress? What style of venue? This will help when finalising colours and types of flowers. For example- it would maybe not suit a very buttoned up formal wedding to have a meadowy, billowing florals. (but then again, rules are made to be broken!)

For all of the above, I highly recommend Pinterest! It is such an invaluable tool for gathering inspiration, and getting a feel for the kind of things that you like.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - White Thistle What is your favourite wedding story?

Not so much a story, but I think back to my own wedding- the day I married my love, and the way all my friends and family all came together and helped out in different ways- is something I will treasure always.

What do you love about being a wedding florist?

This is pretty gushy- but it’s true- working with couples to design and create the flowers for their wedding day makes me feel so lucky, because it is a means of focusing my creative energy into doing something I absolutely adore. I am honoured to be a part of their special day in a small way.

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

Hopefully a visual feast. I will have some real life examples of different facets of my work to have and to hold, and a few surprises. I am looking forward to chatting with all the lovely brides to be.

Dusk to Dawn Celebrant

What do you love most about being a celebrant?

Meeting my couples and getting to know them more. Working with them and writing a beautiful ceremony that reflects them as a couple and makes their day very special. Weddings are a wonderful celebration and I love being a part of that.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Dusk to Dawn Celebrant Where are you based and what areas do you service?

I am based in Brisbane and service all areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Minden, Marburg, Toowoomba, Laidley, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Tweed Coast.

What advice do you have for couples choosing their celebrant?

I would advise any couple to meet personally with any celebrant they may be considering to have perform their ceremony. I offer any couple who make an enquiry with me regarding their wedding ceremony an obligation free meeting in relaxed atmosphere to discuss their ceremony in more detail.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Dusk to Dawn Celebrant How early should couples book with you?

There are a lot of things to consider when couples decide to get married and it can become a little overwhelming but I suggest that couples book their celebrant as soon as possible.

What is your favourite wedding story?

I do not have any one story in particular as I enjoy all the ceremonies I perform and just love being part of their special day and seeing everyone celebrating and how magical weddings are.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Dusk to Dawn Celebrant What do you think are the up and coming trends in 2014/2015 weddings?

With new technology come new trends. I think the advent of social media has seen a difference in how some weddings capture the moments.  We are now seeing ‘social media advisers’ for weddings as images are professionally captured for mediums such as Facebook. I expect this to only grow.

What can couples expect when they visit your stand? As a Celebrant my mission is to deliver you a professional service in which you will always have a say on your special day. So when I meet you at my stand in August you will meet a very professional approachable friendly easy going celebrant who will take the time to talk to you about all aspects of your wedding ceremony.

Are you running any specials on the day? A discount off their final fee if a couple book me on the day of the expo or within two months after the expo.

In The Booth

Can you tell us a bit about In the Booth?

In the Booth is a unique, studio quality photo booth hire service, unlike anything else in the market. In the Booth grew from the experience of a professional photography studio and our booths not only give couples and their guests a fantastic photobooth experience, they also provide quality images comparable to those achieved in the studio.Guests receive unlimited instant prints from the booth whilst having a fantastic time creating some awesome memories.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - In The Booth Where are you based and what areas do you service?

‘In the Booth’ Franchises currently operate from Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Mackay, the Whitsundays, Melbourne, Adelaide, Townsville, Broome, Perth, Canberra and Sydney. We also travel with our booths and welcome contact regarding other locations.

How early should couples book with you? We currently have bookings for as far in advance as 2016! This being said we have multiple booths available in most locations and will do everything we can to ensure that all enquiries receive positive news about availability. It is those special days of the year (12.12.12 etc) and the busy wedding season months, such as September, that book up most quickly so if you have set your date and confirmed your venue we recommend you contact us as soon as possible!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - In The Booth Why do you think a photo booth is such an important part of a couple’s big day?

A photo booth at a wedding captures the unique connections between the special people that the bride and groom chose to be present on their big day.  With the formal proceedings complete, the booth adds that perfect element of fun and entertainment at the time of the day when the couple, and their bridal party, family and friends are ready to let their hair down. Photo booth images reveal people in both expected and unexpected ways. Capturing these moments in the studio quality environment that In the Booth provides contributes to the lasting memories of the couple’s big day and gives both the couple and the guests something tangible to take home with them from directly from the reception. The photo booth images are the first professional images a couple will see from their wedding day. One of the  many messages we receive from our couples  can perhaps best describe why a photo booth is such an important part of their day: The day after the wedding, our house was packed full of things, but we spied the photobooth album and it was the first thing we sat down and went through together – we were thrilled at how many people had taken the time to stick their photos in and write messages.  It is a beautiful souvenir of our wedding reception.  Michelle & Alex

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - In The Booth What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about having a photo booth?

We like to encourage our couples to really think about the props they will bring along to enhance their booth experience. Having serviced well over 5000 events now, we have seen it all when it comes to props (and we do mean it all). Our number one piece of advice when it comes to props, is to remember – less is more. If you provide silly hats and some equally silly glasses, you’ll get photos of all of your guests wearing the same silly hats and the same silly glasses. Great if you’re making your own Where’s Wally book; not so great if you’re after heaps of original and awesome images of your family and friends. Props should enhance your guests’ booth experience and encourage their creativity that’s just waiting to be unleashed!  Think about the kinds of props that will enhance the theme and styling of your event. Also think about going ‘unpropped’. You will be amazed at how inventive guests can be when left up to their own devices! All kinds of things from receptions have been known to find their way into booth images – bouquets, napkins, crockery and even a surfboard!  You can find loads of prop inspiration in the ‘details’ section of our website.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - In The Booth What is your favourite thing about photo booths?

The unexpected! Every event reveals that diamond of an image (or two or three or more) that just captures you and results in a laugh, a sigh and quite regularly a, ‘now why didn’t I think of that?!’ lightbulb moment.  Photo booths bring out the fun in people and the images are a lasting legacy of that moment.

Do you have a favourite photo booth picture?  What is the story behind it?

Gosh, that is a hard question – there are so many!! We have a folder called ‘Rad Booth Images’ that grows by the week! The images that make it into there and that we often use to highlight the product of the booth are the ones that capture our favourite thing about them as noted above – the unexpected. Images that are inspired and creative and show off the power of the booth to capture those awesome moments of an event that guests continue to talk about forever –  ‘Remember when… best wedding ever… in the booth…’  The images that really speak to us are the ones that surprise us. Our absolute favourites are the ones where folk use the series of images to tell us a story. Here is one of our favourites: Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - In The Booth What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

Welcoming smiles and an awesome experience taking the booth for a spin! Our attendants will be there to ensure all of your questions are answered, and to give you the perfect taste of the quality of service and product you will receive from In the Booth.

Are you running any specials on the day?

We pride ourselves on keeping our pricing as consistent as possible without compromising on the quality and inclusions in our packages.  We don’t like running specials that, for obvious reasons, have to be for a very limited time.  Then, when a bride calling the next day has to miss out – it feels so mean!  For this reason, we always keep our pricing consistent so you can rest assured, a couple booking next week won’t get a more awesome deal than you. Each and every one of our clients gets the same awesome inclusions and our award winning service.

Pinup Starlet Hens Parties

Can you tell us a bit about Pinup Starlet Hens Parties?

I started it in August last year. It brings together two loves of mine: making people laugh/facilitating fun (I’ve been performing since I could talk) and the vintage pinup style. I got into pinup a couple of years ago and have made so many wonderful friends (some of which work with me doing the hens parties) and gained heaps of confidence through this style and I want to share it with other women. It’s a style that looks good on women of all sizes and ages and it incorporates loads of fun and cheekiness so it’s the perfect theme for a hens night!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Pinup Starlet Hens Parties

Bella Dee Photography

What packages do you offer?

Our base Pinup Party package is basically two hours of pinup fun: everyone gets there own pinup name (for the night or forever!), we play vintage party games (hoola hooping anyone?), we learn how to strut and pose and do all the facial expressions as well as creating some beautiful solo and group shots of all the girls. Then there are lots of things you can add or substitute like a hair and makeup class, pinup makeover by a professional stylist and/or mini photoshoot. We come to your venue or home or if you’d like the full pinup experience we can organise a 50s venue for you. We can also organise wardrobe hire.

Do you travel for hens parties?

Yes! We do Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Ipswich and Sunshine Coast. And can do other locations by special arrangement.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Pinup Starlet Hens Parties How early should bridesmaids book with you?

A few months in advance is ideal, especially if you’re wanting a package including hair and makeup or a photoshoot (because I need to call in my specialist makeup bombshells and/or photographer). But I’m happy to do last minute bookings too!

Why do you think a hens party is such an important part of a great wedding?

It’s about giving the Bride to Be the ultimate send off into marriage and it’s the perfect excuse to celebrate all things girly, silly and fun. I think a great hens party brings everyone closer together too.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Pinup Starlet Hens Parties What advice do you have for bridesmaids when they are thinking about planning a hens party?

I think doing something a little different to the norm can be really special and memorable…plan something that you will remember and talk about for years to come. Also activities that get everyone involved are great (think: is this going to be fun for the nanas, mums, aunties etc?)

Why do you love hosting hens parties?

Because they are so much fun! I love seeing the girls laugh and feel good about themselves. As well as learn something new about Pinup…if you come away with a gorgeous cheeky pose that is individually you I’ve done my job!

What is your favourite wedding story?

My cousin got married last year to a girl he first dated ten years ago. They broke up when he moved overseas and then got back together a decade later due to the scheming of each of their parents who were in the same Bridge club in Brisbane!

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

Lots of pink, exquisite examples of pinup styling (in me and my helpers), delicious sweets (a pinup is never sweet enough), the chance to win a free hens party and friendly faces. Please come and have a chat, we’d love to meet you.

Are you running any specials on the day?

Yes! Book our base party package for a flat rate of $150 (usually $20 per guest with a minimum booking of $200).

How early should couples book your items?

I ask you to book your pieces as early as possible to avoid disappointment (most of our Antiques are special, “one of a kind” and are perfect for lots of different occasions, Though, I have also helped out many times, brides with last minute frustrations and disappointments. Therefore, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time. It would be my pleasure to help whenever I can.

Do you have a favourite vintage piece and what is the story behind it?

It is hard for me to say I have a favourite vintage piece. All my pieces are divine to me. The elegance, the charm, the creative art, the warmth and character …Gee how can you pick  from the sheer detail given to the trends of the past. It is just wonderful to hear, (while sourcing) every story told and attached to my beautiful pieces .This is exactly what adds the obsessive fuel to drive me to strive for the perfection in the styling of every event.

La De Da Vintage_3 What do you think are the upcoming trends for 2014/2015 weddings?

Trends come and go, there is no doubt there. But beauty and glamour will always play apart of every wedding. This is exactly why the inspiration of vintage should always be included in every brides wish list. The magnificently decorated fine china , the perfectly cut crystal , the sparkle of freshly polished silverware, just spell LOVE ! The beauty of the past, lends warmth to even the most modern Event. Love will never date!

What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their styling?

Actually the first question I usually ask is… to think of something that is close to your hearts, something that portrays your personality and your love . After all this is your special day, a celebration to you both, therefore we should include what is dear to you. It could be something as small as scattering some snaps of the happy times you have already spent together. (some times it’s the little things that can matter), or as big as styling the whole Event around your personality. My service also includes constant discussions and advice once booking date has been confirmed ensuring all aspects and expectations are met.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - La De Da Vintage What is your favourite wedding story?

Favourite wedding story?  I really have not met a couple that is getting married that does not have a magical love story. Everyone of the gorgeous couples I have had the pleasure of helping create their big day,  (I would love to mention all ) from Patricia at Old Government House, Lauren on the Mountain at O’Rielly’s ,to even all our D.I.Y brides are special to me

What can couples expect when they visit your stand?

My theme for the day will be “Just Imagine” My stand will display an example of the magic that can be achieved by adding a touch of vintage

Gold Wedding Hire

Can you tell us a bit about Gold Wedding Hire?

At Gold Wedding Hire we love the idea of helping couples add a touch of elegance, class and luxury to their wedding day. We don’t believe this has to cost a fortune or that you have to go overboard to achieve the look. We hire gold cutlery in a variety of styles and gold colours. No wedding is the same and don’t think that couples should have to stick to the default cutlery offered or the same style regardless of their theme or wedding style.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Gold Wedding Hire Where are you based and what areas do you service?

We are based in Brisbane and offer pick up or drop off services from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast.

Can you give us a run down on how to hire the goodies that you have and what options couples have with you?

We offer couples a variety of cutlery set options; there are 3 general sets with 4 piece, 6 piece or 8 piece available. Couples can also mix and match pieces and styles to build a set they like. There are currently 6 style options, 3 in rose gold, 1 solid yellow gold and 2 gold and silver mixes. There isn’t just one type, so couples are able to find a style that really matches their wedding theme. Our website has a quote system built into it, so couples can go there, check out the different styles options and then tell us which ones they want and how many. With this information, we will build a quote for them. If couples would like to meet to discuss options or see the cutlery in action they can book an appointment with us.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Gold Wedding Hire How early should couples book your items?

We can book cutlery up to a few weeks before the wedding as we do have a number of style options, but some of these are quite popular so it is a good idea to book as soon as the decision has been made. We require a deposit to secure the booking, however we accept payment plans and don’t require full payment until two weeks prior to the wedding day.

Do you have a favourite vintage piece and what is the story behind it?

I am a huge fan of the French Baroque period and Louis XIV and long for the day I could own one. The palace in Versaille is exquisite, from the gold gilt walls, to the etched mirrors, I just love the old world opulence. One day I hope to own one piece from this era, just one would do to satisfy me.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Gold Wedding Hire What do you think are the upcoming trends for 2014/2015 weddings?

I am seeing gold coming through in a big way and obviously I am a fan 😉 understated olde world and rustic elegance are replacing the shabby chic look. Oversized florals and personalised touches are also making their way in. A couples budget and priorities will dictate which trends they run with, but I personally love the small touches a couple can add from their lives to bring a passionate history to their big day. Hire pieces now make an affordable option for adding something unique.

What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their styling?

Think about the things that truly matter to you and your partner. If you both love music, then allocate more of the budget to finding an amazing band. If you are huge foodies, then spend more money here. Unless you have a massive budget, it isn’t possible to have everything, but you can have more of the things you do love. Biggest tip, don’t try and outdo other couples you know or see on Pinterest, find your personal groove and style and design around it.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Brisbane - Gold Wedding Hire What is your favourite wedding story?

Two of my close friends got married recently and they are huge Star Wars fans. Not only were there little Star Wars touches throughout the reception (homemade Darth Vader chocolates, Millennium Falcon guest book, lightsaber candle holders), they also had two Stormtroopers escort the bride down the aisle. It was the most fun, hilarious, beautiful wedding, filled with personal touches of things they both love.

What do you love most about being a wedding stylist?

I love making people happy and seeing their internal visions come to life. Pulling together seemingly random thoughts and ideas and images into a cohesive vision is such a challenge and joy.
