Sophie & Andrews Relaxed Country Wedding at Branell Homestead

This is exactly what a vibrant, fun and slightly quirky couple’s wedding should be all about!  Forget the pretentious ballroom and the impersonal traditions of old – it’s about a celebration of what two people hold dear to them the most.  I don’t think anyone can look through Sophie & Andrew’s gorgeous wedding day images shot by Paper Fox Studio and not have a huge smile on their face.

I’ve decided to leave in all of the quirky looks on their faces which capture the fun candid moments of the day and not just share the more “romantic and formal” shots as it’s those goofy elements that make their day so very unique and special.

Sophie & Andrew really wanted their wedding to feel like a country fair/weekend escape for their guests. A great deal of emphasis was placed on good food, plenty of variety and delicious home made baked goods.   Sharing a love for good food and wine it was important for their guests to share that experience.  “We really wanted everyone to remember how amazing the food and drinks were and we kept the options coming throughout the night. We sent our guests home with a little bag that included an adorable hot chocolate jar, tea leaves test tube and delicious biscotti.”

“Andrew proposed in the sunshine coast hinterland during a picnic under the most enormous tree, it was an amazing surprise! He picked me engagement ring on his own, knowing that I loved Art Deco style antique rings. We took our time planning the wedding, wanting to create a day that reflected our personalities and made all our guests feel included and relaxed.”

“The only diy project was the confetti! My beautiful bridesmaid Belinda, loving hole punced tissue paper for hours and made her own doily cones! They looked amazing! There weren’t any family traditions incorporated, other than the pranks involved on the speeches. Water pistols and whistles were incorporated to keep everyone in check! We both believe that marriage is the lifelong union made between two souls that feel a love that is all encompassing. We wanted to officially declare this love in front of all of our loved ones and share memories that will last a lifetime.”

“I had an image in my head of the dress I wanted and Melanie from Silver Sixpence was able to sketch it exactly as I had imagined. I knew I wanted a natural fabric that  rustled when I walked and had texture. The beautiful dupion silk from the Silk Trader‘s in Melbourne was perfect. The dress was created over a few months and I fell in love with it more and more after each fitting.”

“I had a mild panic attack over 15 kiwi relatives missing the bus transport to the ceremony! After being given a mild sedative I did find the ceremony more amusing than I anticipated and possibly giggled inappropriately as my dearly beloved became overwhelmed with emotion. At least this meant that we weren’t both sobbing at the same time, which was a plus!”

“My favourite memory was walking back for having photos taken up on the orchard, and seeing all of my favourite people scattered throughout the reception area, laughing, driving and enjoying the food. The venue created such a relaxed, homely feel that really made me so happy!  Our other favourite memory was our best man’s outstanding speech that had most of the guests crying and laughing at the same time. His rendition of Taylor Swift’s Love Story was priceless!!”

“Our best advice is don’t be swayed by other peoples advice on how your wedding should be. Keep it between you and your partner and create a day that reflects your personalities.  Also, relax and enjoy the day, it goes so fast! Take a moment every now and then through the day to just stop, breathe and take it all in. Oooh and make sure you find time to dance!! I loved spinning about in my gorgeous gown with all my loved ones around me!”
