Rockin’ Toowoomba Wedding – Kate & Nick

We love vintage weddings – I know that’s a bit of a captain obvious statement… but so many vintage inspired weddings feature gorgeous soft pastel shades.  Now don’t get me wrong, these are fabulous, but I have always had a bit of a thing for a great 50s almost rock n roll inspired wedding day.  When Cory Rossiter sent through this rockin 50s inspired Toowoomba wedding I did a little squeal with delight.

From Kate’s fabulous retro style hair, to the classic tea length lace dress and matching wrist length gloves, this wedding is one awesome day.  Having grown up in Toowoomba myself I love a classic car featured in a wedding and the antique suitcases are such a fun touch.

Kate recalls, “Unknowingly my brother played match maker when I had to pick him and a friend (Nicholas) up from having a few too many $1 pots on a Friday afternoon, and the rest fell into place. After 5 years and having a beautiful daughter together, we decided to get married. However every wedding plan has its ups and downs, mine was pregnancy. We rushed and moved everything forward, just so I could still fit into my wedding dress.”

And didn’t she just rock that dress!!!!

Kate’s gorgeous shoes are from a groovy Etsy seller in the US, Walk on Air, who adorns shoes of all styles and colours with lovely lace motifs.

Kate remembers, “Our day was perfect in every way, it was us. We wanted it to represent who we were. I was marrying a man who loves his cars, hot rod shirts and beer. I wasn’t going to ask him to wear a suit. He wore a formal Flannelette shirt, forgot his own tie but remembered his esky and said awful wedded wife instead of lawful. As for me, I love the sense timeless beauty with a hint of rockabilly pinup. The execution of our hair and makeup made that day come alive.”

“We where married in a beautiful garden so the remaining photos we wanted to be the total opposite. Cory our photographer captured every moment and aspect of the day, so that you could clearly see who we are and that a wedding doesn’t have to be overly fancy, you just need love, laughter and to think outside the traditional wedding box and you can have amazing photos.”

I’m madly in love with this image…. Kate’s red jacket is to die for and with the hair flower and her ivory lace dress… wow!!
