Natalie’s Kitchen Tea

Natalie, one of our gorgeous brides, had her Kitchen Tea recently in her parent’s backyard in Brisbane.  “It was a gorgeous, sunny, winter afternoon, exactly what I had hoped for as mum’s yard is quite spectacular. We hosted about 70 ladies for the event. With the help of my lovely bridesmaids, my mother and my soon to be mother-in-law we planned a visual delight of colourful home-made decorations and food” recalls Natalie

“Ladies enjoyed delicious cakes, scones, macaroons and savouries, a glass of pink champagne or a cup of tea whilst listening to vintage music from the album “Music for a Vintage Tea Party” (available on itunes). My bridesmaids hosted various games during the afternoon such as a questionnaire about how well guests knew the bride and groom, ‘guess that spice’ – which was set up on a lovely vintage sideboard, and ‘the toilet paper bride’ which was extremely entertaining and humorous.”

“All styling was DIY, with a lot of help from my bridesmaids. My wonderful bridesmaid Astha Koirala made all the bunting, table centrepieces, collected various knick-knacks and even did lovely cross-stich pieces to hang around the yard. She also made delicious macaroons.”

“I absolutely loved my kitchen tea! I had a lot of involvement planning the day as I had a vision in my head of how I wanted the party to look and feel like, and I could not have been more happy with the results. I was married on the 7th September this year, and since it was a spring wedding I feel the vibrant colours we captured on this lovely afternoon were a great prelude for the big day.”

“The beautiful photography was kindly done by my father, Simon Mellick and the vintage-look furniture was on loan from my Aunt, Stephanie Fry, who together with her husband collects old furniture and restores it.”

“All of the food apart from the cake was made by me, the bridesmaids, the mothers or other guests.”
