Who doesn’t love a beautifully styled wedding? I know I love them! This is one area in planning weddings where brides can quickly work out they have perhaps bitten off more than they can chew and when the harsh reality of having to spend the day before their wedding day running around moving furniture and setting up table decorations sets in there is an obvious answer. Call in the professionals! Wedding stylists know what they are doing and can put together an amazing atmosphere (and do all of the hard work of lugging tables, chairs and backdrops around) while you kick back and enjoy the time surrounding your wedding the way you should – with a glass of champagne in hand while relaxing with friends and family! One of the stylists we love is Perth based Little Vintage Hire Co and we recently ducked behind the scenes to find out more about what makes them tick!
Can you tell us a bit about Little Vintage Hire Co.?
Little Vintage Hire Co was an idea that started about 6 months before my own wedding. I spent months planning every small detail of our wedding ceremony and reception and absolutely loved every minute of it. I sourced so many beautiful rustic and vintage items that I decided I wanted to be able to provide them to local brides on their big day and assist with their wedding styling. We launched Little Vintage Hire Co. In December 2015 and we specialise in hire items, personalised signs and event styling for weddings, engagement parties, baby showers, high teas and birthdays.
Our passion is to assist brides and event organisers in making the event of their dreams come to life. We prefer to stay away from set packages, as each of our brides and grooms have a personal style and vision for their day. By working closely with brides and grooms to ensure that we use only items that speak to them as a couple we can ensure their personal style is reflected in the design of their big day.
Where are you based and what areas do you service?
We are based in Mandurah and love working with local brides; however we service all over the Perth Metro area and also the south west from Margaret River to Pemberton.
What sort of pieces can couples hire from you?
We have a range of hire items including glassware, vintage jars and vases, vintage tea cups and saucers, ceremony furniture, linen and vintage props and décor such as rustic wooden boxes, type writers, lanterns etc.
For those who love your pieces how can they hire them? Do you have a studio or warehouse for those who would like to see your pieces in person first?
We have a studio/showroom in Halls Head where brides can come if they would like to view our hire items in person. To make a booking please feel free to contact us via email or phone to start discussing the styling for your big day.
Do you have a favourite piece among your collection that you just adore?
I absolutely adore our high tea hire items including vintage tea cups and saucers and tiered cake plates. They really add a beautiful touch to any event, be it a wedding reception, baby shower or birthday party.
I just love your personalised signs – can you tell us a little bit more about those and the process for couples to order their very own wedding sign?
We offer two styles of personalised signs, wooden and chalkboard. They can be customised with any wording from bar menus, to welcome signs, to a favourite song lyric or quote. So far they have been one of our most popular items!
What advice do you have for brides when they are working out their wedding design style when it comes to props and styling?
I definitely think it is important on your wedding day to surround yourself with items that you (and your husband to be) really love. If you look through a hire company/stylist’s inventory and pick out the items you love, 9 times out of 10 they will all go beautifully together and even if they don’t they will reflect your personal style as a couple. Also, add as many personal touches to your wedding as possible – trust me you won’t regret it and it will be the personal touches that your guests remember.
What do you love most about styling weddings?
Just being part of one of the most exciting, happy days of a couple’s life. There is also nothing more rewarding than finishing a wedding set up and taking a moment to stand back and see the finished product and how beautifully it has all come together. It makes all the hours of preparation and months of planning worth it!
