Kristina & Josh’s love story started when they were just 16 yrs old, meeting at a local shopping centre through their mothers.
Both share a love for camping, being outside, 4WD and their dog, Woody, so having an outdoor ceremony in a rural setting and including Woody was absolutely perfect for both of them! Their ceremony and reception took place on Josh’s parents property, creating a warm and relaxed feeling for their celebrations.
“A lot of the inspiration for our wedding was taken from our everyday lives as my mother in-law has been collecting antiques for many years and both Josh and I have developed a love for them. We wanted to create a romantic yet relaxed outdoor atmosphere, which we could achieve on Josh’s parent’s beautiful rural property.”
“My sister Sarah (maid of honour) booked a full day of dress shopping, along with my mum and mother in-law. We had 5 shops booked in for the day, at the 3rd shop I had tried maybe 5 or 6 dresses when I then tried on a dress that I absolutely fell in love with. It fit perfectly, like it was made for me. What made it even more “perfect” and special was that it was the only one of its kind made. Though I loved it, I asked the lady if she could hold it overnight as we still had 2 shops to got to. But from the moment we left I couldn’t stop thinking about it and drove back there the next morning to buy it!”
“A good friend of Josh’s family – Mickki from Indian automotive, was nice enough to lend us the red kombi for the day for great photos and to also pick up the bridesmaids. This car was a perfect match for our theme.”
Kristina’s veil was lovingly handmade by Josh’s mother Tanya, and she wore a vintage necklace which belonged to Josh’s grandmother.
It was a team effort with Josh, his dad and some good mates building the arch and seats for the ceremony.
“My Auntie made our flower arrangements. The gorgeous purple flowers used in these were picked straight from the bushland!”
“The night of the wedding we stayed on the property a few acres away from the ceremony in a beautiful tent by The Avant-Garde Camping Company who our friend Jennah Hallam owns. We then headed to the Hunter Valley for a few nights, where we stayed at Spicers Vineyards Estate.”
Handy husband Josh also built the door for the entrance into their reception area.
“We used antique lounges that Josh’s mum has collected over the years. We also managed to find another one on Gumtree. Using real, antique pieces really helped us to achieve an authentic, vintage wedding.”
Kristina & Josh’s advice for brides & grooms to be:
“Take your friends and family’s help when they offer it. It is great to have them along for the journey and to hear their input. It will also make them feel involved and special.”
