After meeting in high school, Tom organised a trip to Vanuatu where he proposed to Kelly over dinner on the beach at their resort. With a late arrival to the resort the proposal didn’t quite go as Tom had hoped as all of the plans were made for the first night at the resort. With a slight postponement the question was popped on their second night!
Both Kelly & Tom wanted a relaxed and comfortable wedding including plenty of DIY elements creating a country/rustic feel to the day with a few vintage touches. The perfect addition to their day was to choose Jess Marks Photography to capture all of their special moments.
When Kelly & Tom began discussing ideas for their wedding they decided on Albert River Wines as the venue as it is halfway between their hometown of the Gold Coast and Warwick, where they were living for work. “We liked it’s country feel, and it wasn’t too far for all of our guests. We also drive by it regularly, so it’s a nice reminder of our special day!”
The bonbonniere doubled as place cards with the ladies receiving jars of strawberry jam and the gents receiving jars of piccalilli.
Kelly recalls the funniest moment of the day, “The best man’s speech! Tom’s brother, Edward, summed up our relationship from Facebook’s point of view, taking us through comments we had written to each other, and counting how many days we had been ‘Facebook official’. He had us crying with laughter.”
Kelly’s advice to brides-to-be: “Your wedding is about you, so don’t let anyone pressure you to do anything other than what you want. Also when working out a budget, prioritise. We didn’t want to spend money on programs or menus that would just be thrown away, so we worked out ways to get around them!”
And where did the glowing newly weds choose to honeymoon? They spent three weeks in the USA including New York, Washington DC, Las Vegas, San Francisco and LA. (lucky ducks!)
