This fabulous retro inspired shoot, photographed & styled by Laura of LB Studio Image showcases how simple, inexpensive outfits and styling can still create a wonderful vintage inspired wedding day. One of my absolute favourite elements of this shoot is the bride’s cotton wedding dress – not only is it tea length which I just adore, but cotton makes it comfortable, affordable and the bride can even wear her special dress again.
Photographer Laura shares, “The 50’s to me seem like such a fun time! The style is fun and flirty yet classy and sophisticated. I loved hearing stories told by my mother about growing up in the 50’s. The dinner parties, eating off of fine china, camping trips, the picnics and walking hand in hand with the one you love. It seemed natural for this wedding shoot to come about!
The weather called for a warm spring day, but what did we get…rain showers. No worries! Rain on your wedding day is good luck! It made for some beautiful images and the sun came out to join us later. Renee and Chapin are a real couple who stepped up to model for this 50’s styled wedding. Renee looked stunning wearing a simple white, 50’s inspired swing dress complete with a petticoat a light mint blue sweater and a pair of white heels. Her look was completed with her modest birdcage styled veil, a lovely strand of pearls, bright red lipstick and a skilled winged eye. Chapin looked equally handsome wearing brown dress shoes, a pair of khaki pants, a white button-down shirt, a vest that was brown with red pinstripes and a gorgeous brown checked tie, polished off with a double windsor knot.
The bride had a simple bouquet made with pink and white carnations surrounded with babies breath. The amazing cake was a 4 tier wedding cake with buttercream frosting with different colours creating an ombre style effect. The frosting colours were chosen to match the interior of the camper and the exterior of the truck. In keeping with the theme of the day, the cake topper said it all, ‘Just Hitched!'”
