Chalkboard art is amazing, it reminds us of retro diners, old school movie theatres and playing hopstoch on the path outside our house! So imagine our joy when we stumbled upon a pair of graphic designers who combine their design skill and their amazing creative talent to create custom chalkboards! Swoon!
We caught up with Michelle from The Simmple Things to ask her a few questions!
Hi Michelle!! Fill us in on The Simmple Things?
The Simmple Things is the creative project of Michelle Pretsel, and her fiancé Toby Simm (hence the two m’s in Simmple). Michelle and Toby are both passionate graphic designers with wild imaginations and a love for custom crafted typography and illustration. The Simmple Things was born in early 2012 after Michelle created a set of hand drawn chalkboards, a fingerprint tree guestbook, and some creative decor for her brothers wedding that went down a hit with both the bride and groom, and their guests.
How would you describe your chalkboard style?
The chalkboard style is imaginative and eclectic, featuring hand crafted type with amazing attention to detail.
What kinds of things can you put on the chalkboards?
Predominantly hand crafted typography, with design elements such as scrolls, banners, borders etc. Illustrations can also feature on the chalkboards.
Runs us through the process of ordering from you!

What do you think are the upcoming trends for 2012/2013 weddings?
Chalkboards of course 🙂
