Can you tell us a bit about Ethereal Photography? We are Josh and Joey, a fun and vibrant husband and wife photography duo that love living life! We adore the beauty of each wedding captured and love meeting new people. You are important to us and that is why we offer our clients a highly personalised experience with a number of different packages to suit everyone’s budget. Do you travel for weddings? Yes! Love has no boundaries. Locally, our main area of service is from Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast but we adore destination weddings and are happy to travel! How would you describe your style? The essence behind Ethereal Photography is heavenly, delicate light. We are natural light photographers which means we are all about working with the available light to give our images that soft and natural airy feel. We also have a photojournalistic approach, meaning that you can relax and enjoy your day while we capture all the little candid moments that complete your love story. How early should couples book with you? Love is that little precious gift shared between two souls. If you are in love, and ready to share that most perfect of days together then make sure it is captured how you want it to be remembered. Our advice is to book early and secure your photographer, love does not wait, make sure it is captured! However we try to be as accommodating as possible and there have been some last minute bookings which we have been able to fit in so it is definitely worthwhile to make an enquiry. Why do you think photography is such an important part of a couple’s big day? When it came to our own wedding day, we wanted someone who would capture all the little moments which were so important to us as well as feeling a warm connection with them. We are so glad that we took the time to choose the right one and understand the same importance of your wedding day. The images captured on the day are the memories you will look back on for years to come and that’s what makes photography such an important element! What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their photography? Choose what is right for you! Everyone has a different style and taste, which is what makes the world such a wonderful place! It’s a good idea to meet your photographers before making the decision as having a good connection helps you to feel more relaxed on the day. If you are not 100% happy with your photographers it can create unnecessary stress and tension. What is your favourite thing about photography? Photography is more than just looking through a lens and clicking a button. It is a gift, and a privilege. For us, there is nothing more thrilling than making lasting memories for people at some of the happiest moments in their life. We both get a buzz out of sharing in people’s special day. Hearing the joy and excitement from newlyweds when they receive their images afterwards is priceless!! Do you have a favourite wedding photograph? What is the story behind it? There are so many photos that we love, and it was hard to choose! But what says “I love you” more than the glistening eyes of a Groom when he sees his angelic princess walking down the aisle? Ricky & Amy tied the knot in December 2013. Ricky waited with nervous anticipation, flanked by his groomsmen. He purposely faced away from the aisle to make sure he would be the very last person to see Amy as she walked towards him so that he could soak in every element of the moment. We think their faces say it all! It must be love 😉 What can couples expect when they visit your stand? We will have a nice little vintage nook for you to stop by and see some of our work. Our space provides a relaxed environment for you to get to know us and see our style on display so please swing by and say hello… we can’t wait to meet you! Are you running any specials on the day? Yes! We have some goodies to give away; on the day we will be running a competition for engaged couples. The prize will be a free engagement session valued at $500 which includes a framed print. All you have to do is pop over to our stand and sign up for your chance to go into the draw to win. The lucky couple will be announced via our Facebook page after the fair!

I have my standard range, choc mud, white mud, caramel mud, fruit cake and Victorian sponge.
And my specialty flavours cherry ripe mud, white choc honeycomb, caramel sticky date or one of your favorite muds with the addition of any of the following fillings lemon curd, raspberry and peppermint choc chip.

I love simple cakes finished off with wonderful arrangements of sugar flowers complementing either the bride’s bouquet or the table settings at the venue.

A general rule of thumb is 6 months but it is a good idea to get in as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

I think the wedding cake is a wonderful option for dessert. Then the cake can be enjoyed in all of its glory.
What is your favourite wedding story?
Last year my Brother and his wife married, it didn’t stop raining all day…not just dripping but bucketing down. It wasn’t going to ruin our fun…the whole day was amazing and so special. I just enjoyed seeing someone close to me have such a special day with someone they love.
What do you love most about creating cakes?
I could get lost for hours making and arranging sugar flowers.
What can couples expect when they visit your stand?
I have designed two vintage display cakes that I can’t wait to showcase as well as cupcake, macaron’s and 2 free take home tastings.
Can you tell us a bit about Nan’s Garden? At Nan’s Garden we aim to bring to life all the magic that I experienced as a child in my Nan’s garden. It was a place full of imagination and unexplored treasures. In 2009 my mother (Nan) and I wanted to offer handmade, environmentally conscious items for little ones because all the organic items were so plain. We love deconstructing garments and curtains and creating beautiful couture items for weddings and special occasions. If you can dream it, we can probably make it for you. What inspires you to gorgeous creations? I’m inspired by vintage items I find while exploring the treasure shops. I particularly love pieces with a hidden beauty that are perhaps overlooked for being out of fashion. I love to transform them into something that everyone wants. My daughter has also influenced our style greatly. I was in no way a girly, girl but she loves to help me design outfits that are fit for a princess. If you had to define your style what would it be? My grandmother had a very eclectic style and I think I got a lot of my design inspiration from her. Even in her eighties she loved to buy one off pieces and match them together. Her love of the whimsical and my love of vintage comes through in our style. I also draw a lot of inspiration from the theatre and historical costumes. Do you do custom orders? We love to do custom orders. We usually chat with you about what you would like and then provide you with a sketch, or a range of sketches if you aren’t sure what you want. We then bring the sketch to live using vintage, upcycled and couture materials. Where are you based and what areas do you service? We are based in Brisbane, Qld, but we service all areas. We are even able to post our fresh flower crowns to certain locations. What is your favourite wedding story? Apart from my own wedding story, I recently was cleaning out items for a garage sale and came across an Oroton handbag. It was still in its original packaging including the sticker that said made in West Germany. All that was inside was a white lace handkerchief. I asked my mother where it had come from. She and my grandmother had travelled to West Germany just before my mother got married and my grandmother had purchased the handbag for my mother to carry on her wedding day. It has lived, forgotten, in that box since the day she married my father. Needless to say it didn’t go in the garage sale! What do you love most about creating unique wedding outfits for little people? I love the ability to made someone’s dream come true. It allows me to use my creative side to reuse items that would otherwise be forgotten. I also love using my vintage sewing machines to sew them. What do you think are the upcoming trends for 2014/2015 weddings? I think there will be a calling for sophisticated, sweet colour mixed with an eco friendly feeling. It is so much simpler to be environmentally conscious with your wedding and I think people are keen to do whatever they can to protect the beautiful places they choose to have weddings. And lots of unique Nan’s Garden outfits of course! What can couples expect when they visit your stand? We are going to transport you into the dressing room of a bridal party. Come and see the exquisite hair accessories, ring cushions, flower crowns, vintage gowns and handmade flower girl and page boy outfits. And our vintage sewing machine we use to create them. Are you running any specials on the day? Each visitor to our stand will receive one of our handmade, plantable gift tags ( which make excellent wedding guest gifts). Our bridal hair accessories will be at a special Bridal Fair price and any custom orders on the day will have postage included.

How long should brides allow for hair and makeup on the day? I like to allow 1 hr for hair and 1hr for make up per person. That is considering what sort of styles they are having, it could be shorter. But definitely 45 min to 1 hr for make up. Do you have a particular hair style or makeup style that you love for weddings? Don’t get me started!!!!!!! I have done so many gorgeous brides and fabulous bridal photo shoots, it’s hard to pick. It totally depends on the dress and the bride. But what I call my ‘DITA’ set and the 1930’s ‘GLAMOUR WAVES’ are definitely the most popular of my photos chosen among my prospective brides.

Can you tell us a bit about Impressworks? Impressworks offers contemporary letterpress wedding stationery using traditional tools and methods for bride and grooms across Australia. Our business places a strong emphasis on nurturing the print experience for designers and artisans through quality material, craftsmanship and simplicity. Letterpress is a 500-year-old print-form surging in popularity due to its rich, tactile results and unique physical print ‘impression’. Impressworks has carefully refurbished a 1963 Heidelberg Windmill Platen Press which is operated by Emma McKimmie, a Bachelor of Design graduate with an eye for fine detail and quality. McKimmie is Australia’s only letterpress printing apprentice and a visionary at bringing on-screen designs to print. Where are you based and what areas do you service? Impressworks is located in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and services customers across Australia. How would you describe your style? In keeping with the traditional aspects of the letterpress print-form, Impressworks has based its philosophy around the Arts & Crafts movement of the late nineteenth century, a time when craftsmanship and attention to detail were valued over mass-production. The Arts and Crafts movement was a time when designers rebelled against the churning machines of the industrial revolution and took a step back to appreciate quality in individually handcrafted pieces. We believe that today’s print consumers are faced by similar adversities, and for their product to stand out in an increasingly digital age it must be a truly special, hand-crafted piece. What advice do you have for couples choosing their invitation suite? Your wedding invitation is the first impression your guests will have and sets the tone for the entire wedding. Your invitations should convey a sense of what the event will be like and also reflect a couples style and personality. You want something that people will remember and for our customers receiving a beautifully finished, unique letterpress printed invitation on a warm cotton stock is a highly valued and exciting experience. How early should couples look at booking in? We have a 2 week turn around on printing our jobs from the time the final artwork has been approved and couples should be looking to send their invitations out 3 months prior to their wedding What do you love most about making wedding invitations? I love seeing the excitement of the bride and groom as their on-screen designs are brought to print. Being a part of a day that people will remember for the rest of their lives is a very special thing. What is your favourite wedding story? We recently printed wedding invitations for a lovely couple getting married in Bali later this year. The stunning invitations, designed in-house, featured a three colour print in gold, blush pink and charcoal with a custom die cut on our beautiful 600gsm Crane Lettra cotton stock and were paired with matching pearl white cotton envelopes. What do you think are the upcoming trends for 2014/2015 weddings? Vintage style weddings are definitely on trend for this coming year and today a growing number of designers and creative agencies are being drawn back to the handcrafted, tactile nature of traditional letterpress printing. With Pantone’s colour of the year being ‘Radiant Orchid’ I also expect to see a lot of interest in the ‘expressive, creative and embracing purple’. What can couples expect when they visit your stand? When couples visit Impressworks they will have the chance to engage with our beautiful selection of handcrafted letterpress printed stationery, plan their special day with our talented team, take home stunning samples, and leave knowing that their wedding invitations will give a great first impression to all of their lovely guests.
