How would you describe your style?

Our style is traditional with a hint of vintage and shabby chic, but we are always excited when a bride comes with a unique idea and happy to accommodate pretty much any style!  At Devereux Creative we stay on top of wedding trends and with a large selection of samples, we’re bound to spark some ideas, even for those brides that aren’t 100% sure of their style.

What advice do you have for couples choosing their invitation suite?

Your invitations set the tone and style of your wedding so choose stationery that conveys this to your guests. You don’t want your guests turning up in thongs when it’s a black tie affair.

How early should couples look at booking in?

Couples should book their stationery at least 4 months before the wedding. This gives us time to send a sample invitation to make sure they are happy with their choice, before we order in their paper stock and embellishments.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - Devereux Creative

What do you love most about making wedding invitations?

We love everything to do with paper and especially what the invitation stands for. It’s always amazing to meet with one of my beautiful clients and have their ideas become something they can hold in their hands. The invitation can make the whole wedding seem more real to brides and it’s such a beautiful moment to share with them.

What is your favourite wedding story?

I have met so many amazing brides it’s hard to pick just one. I love hearing about wedding plans and sharing their excitement. A lot of brides send me photos of their wedding afterwards and it’s wonderful to know I contributed to their special day.

In the Booth

Can you tell us a bit about In the Booth?

In the Booth started 5 years ago and grew from a professional photography background. In the Booth now has 14 franchises across Australia and we are proud as punch to play a part here in Toowoomba and surrounds.  In the Booth only uses the best quality equipment and the photos achieved are very much comparable to what you would get in a studio.  Besides that, our booths have a really funky, retro style that will suit any event.  Unlike other booths, we can fit 6-8 people comfortably and often more while still maintain a quality image!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - In the Booth

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

We are Toowoomba based but we are more than happy to travel. – “have booth will travel”.

How early should couples book with you?

Planning is everything when it comes to weddings so we recommend booking a booth as early as possible. We currently have bookings well into 2015!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - In the Booth

Why do you think a photo booth is such an important part of a couple’s big day?

For a start – It’s so much fun!  Just add a booth to get the party started.  People of all ages are guaranteed a good time in our booth.  Guests and the Bride and Groom each receive a copy of all the  great memories from the special day with the instant prints.  The Bride and Groom also receive all images and video messages after their event.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - In the Booth

What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about having a photo booth?

We’re not in the business of giving advice but if you want you and your guests to have lasting memories from your wedding (and fun making them) then In The Booth is the way to go!

What is your favourite thing about photo booths?

When people walk into the booth and close that curtain, it seems to draw out some of the best creative and candid photos.  (We never get sick of the laughter it generates!)

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - In the Booth

Do you have a favourite photo booth picture?  What is the story behind it?

There are way too many to choose from but we love it when the grandparents get dragged in by the kids then love it more when the grandparents come back by themselves.  The bride and groom photos are always special too.  We know they are so busy on the day but love that they have taken some time out for themselves to have a moment captured.

What can couples expect when they visit your stand in May?

We encourage  everyone gets in our booth to have a photo or two.  It’s the best way to really experience our booth and to see the quality of our images and the booth itself.   We will have many sample prints on display as well as the album which is provided for your event.  And of course you will be able to speak to us (Mark & Kel) and ask as many questions as you like .

Josh Withers Celebrant

Can you tell us a bit about being a celebrant?

A celebrant is responsible for two things on the wedding day: the legal requirements of marriage, and the flavour of your ceremony!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - Joshua Withers Celebrant

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

I live in Robina, have offices in Fortitude Valley and Sydney, and every day I’m travelling somewhere between Dalby, Cairns, Melbourne and my local coffee shop.

What advice do you have for couples choosing their celebrant?

Nothing on your wedding day is as important as your celebrant. You can even get married in the nude, so apart from doing the hardest thing ever, that is falling in love, choosing a celebrant can be the second hardest thing for you to do. So choose someone that rocks, someone you get along with, and someone that you know on the day will deliver an awesome wedding ceremony.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - Joshua Withers Celebrant

How early should couples book with you?

18-24 months before the wedding is the best bet to know you’ll get your date, but even then if it’s Saturday at 3pm you might be unlucky.

What is your favourite wedding story?

Just recently a couple came to me scared and nervous because the pomp and ceremony surrounding weddings burdened them to the point of wanting to elope and get married overseas. We sat down and identified that everything planned was actually planned because family were sticklers for tradition. In the end we scrapped the whole ceremony and got married at a dinner with all of their peeps, but none of the stress.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - Joshua Withers Celebrant

What do you love most about being a celebrant?

Two people fell in love and they asked me to talk about it in a pretty suit. As if there’s nothing awesome about that!

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - Joshua Withers Celebrant

What do you think are the upcoming trends for 2014/2015 weddings?

Wedding trends in 2014 are seeing people move to different wedding times and dates, evening ceremonies, morning ceremonies, weekday ceremonies. Brides and grooms are inviting their guests to venues that have never held weddings before, they’re getting really creative in where they’re celebrating their wedding. And finally, my average wedding ceremony guest list is about 40, where 10 years ago it would have been 100. Weddings are simply getting more intimate.

What can couples expect when they visit your stand in May?

To meet me! I’ll even give you a little piece of cardboard with my number on it.

Where are you based and what areas do you service?

We are based in Toowoomba Queensland. We service the darling downs and South East Queensland.

What kind of flavours do you offer?

We offer 6 varieties of chocolate mud cakes; dark, milk, white, caramel, white chocolate and baileys, and coffee chocolate.  We also make a beautiful traditional fruit cake

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - Neva May Cakes

Do you have a favourite flavour or cake style?

My favourite flavour from my range will definitely have to be the white chocolate and baileys mud cake, always a favourite for my clients as well.

I love cake styles with intricate designs such as painted artwork or writing on the face of the cake.  It takes a lot of patience, but the end result is always rewarding.

I also love to replicate the brides’ dress and incorporate it into the cake design.

How early should couples book in for your delicious cakes?

It is advised for couples to book their cake 9-12 months in advance. Any time shorter than this may depend on availability.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - Neva May Cakes

What advice do you have for couples when they are thinking about their cake?

Some good points for couple to take into account when ordering their wedding cake is: how many people is the cake to serve, will the cake be served as a treat or dessert, do the bride and groom wish to keep the top tier, is a kitchen cake required, the design of the cake will also reflect the size of the cake, if the couple have not already chosen a design before the consultation it’s a great idea to bring sample of invites, colour scheme, photos of brides dress etc.

What do you love most about creating cakes?

The biggest thing I love is creating individual works or art for the couples, sitting down and discussing what elements to bring together in order to create a beautiful unique design. Some couples are happy to choose something from a magazine and that is perfectly fine, but I love it when we take components from the wedding décor, the brides dress, or something sentimental to the bride and groom, and create a cake completely exclusive.

Vintage Bride Wedding Fair Toowoomba - Neva May Cakes

What can couples expect when they visit your stand in May?

Couples will be able to view a few of my rustic and vintage designed wedding cakes I will have on display on the day. I will be there to help discuss enquiries on what they should know when ordering their wedding cake, and what to bring to cake consultations. I will also have a draw for the couples to enter, to go in the running to win a $400 wedding cake voucher.
