Gail from La De Da Vintage has such a lovely collection of vintage knick knacks for your wedding. It’s been so exciting to see her business and her incredible collection grown over the years, and a snippet of this can be seen in our recent vendors shoot – 20s/30s Glam Inspired Fashion Shoot.
Can you tell us a bit about La De Da Vintage?
We hire and style for vintage weddings , and all other special events such as kitchen teas , garden parties, baby showers . La De Da believes that everyone has their own vision of their vintage inspired wedding .
Whether you require a complete styling service, just wish to hire for a D.I.Y or require some special pieces to reflect your personality . Choose from a mix of beautiful authentic antique china ,vintage linen, sparkling crystal, silverware and cutlery , including bone handle knives. Right down to the props you require to set your theme , such as luggage, black boards, a vintage camera, records and the list goes on . In fact if you ask we probably have it !
Where are you based and what areas do you service ?
Our showroom is on the Gold Coast. Being based on the north end of the Coast means we can service most areas from as far south as Lismore , out to Ipswich and all surrounding Brisbane areas. Requests from any other area , certainly would be up for consideration .
Can you give us a rundown on how to hire the goodies that you have and what options couples have with you?
We are just a phone call or e-mail away. Showroom viewings are by appointment only , though, it would be my pleasure to arrange an appointment. Appointments are also available on weekends too !
Customised packages for both styling and hire are available.
Itemised prices are also available for smaller requests.
How early should couples book your items?
Couples should order as early as possible , so as not to be disappointed . Once booked in your pieces availability will then be guaranteed . La De Da Vintage does understand though , that sometimes you may have a few last minute requests , therefore require pieces at short notice, if they are available that’s ok too .
Do you have a favourite vintage piece and what is the story behind it?
I have many beautiful pieces of crockery and crystal. I just love all the English brands such as Royal Albert .
But last week, I scored a fabulous trunk , to add to my vintage luggage . It is trimmed with wood and was bought over here by ship in 1963 . It has it’s original travel stickers . Can’t wait to style this as part of a vintage wedding .
What do you think are the upcoming trends for 2013 – 2014 weddings?
With the release of the movie ” The Great Gatsby ” I have already had requests for Art Deco style themes . As this is the era of glamour , I believe this will be here to stay for awhile yet . Though I do believe all weddings should be themed around the couples personality . Couples are looking for something different , something that makes a statement of who they are .
What advise do you have for couples when they are thinking about their styling ?
The best advise I can give would be to consider what is important to you . What makes you, you ! for example —
Is it glamour ? is it vintage goth? Is it vintage country garden theme? Is it retro? This is the beauty of vintage it can be so versatile. After all it is your wedding !!
What is your favourite wedding story ?
I would have to say this years favourite so far is the wedding of Lauren and Thomas at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat ( the lost world spa) – The venues views are just amazing.
Lauren married Thomas on the mountain, Lauren wanted a vintage inspired wedding and new exactly the style she wanted . Beautiful crystal vases supported amazing floral arrangements, tea lights twinkled through small crystal milk jugs. Lauren is a school teacher therefore of course, beautiful vintage novels such as Tom Sawyer, Ann of Green Gables, Shakespeare gave height on the tables to English Trios .
A type writer for guests to write notes, and a vintage port held the gift cards upon entrance. She had a full dessert buffet consisting of all English cake stands and trays. Lauren and Thomas served the dessert themselves adorned in cute themed aprons. A coffee and tea station was also presented with pretty English tea cups and a bunting of old family wedding photos. The bridal table was completely dressed in vintage from crochet table cloths, crystal glasses, silver cutlery, vintage napkins and crystal napkin rings .
The room looked amazing , so did Lauren and Thomas. It was certainly my pleasure to help make their day exactly how they wanted it.
What do you love most about being a wedding stylist?
I work hard at getting every request right , therefore when you see that beautiful couple who are so much in love , so happy , enjoy their special day it’s magical !!
Looking at all the beautiful photos they send and the wonderful thank you notes, how could anyone not love being a wedding stylist
What can couples expect when they visit your stand in August ?
This year my stand will consist of a broad range of pieces from beautiful Royal Albert ,and Royal Doulton wedding cake stands to silver cutlery , vintage napkins and table cloths. Of course we will still show our pretty trios and have to bring a few pieces of luggage and some hessian and lace bunting. All the trimmings is the best way to describe , I think !
Are you running any specials for the day ?
We will be offering 10% discount for all hire products booked as a result of the Fair .
