Emma & Ty’s was a unique love story. The two of them first met when they were five years old, attending the same primary school in their home town of Northam for five years. They went their separate ways when they moved to the city however their lives intertwined intermittently through friends over the years. Then 20 years later they reconnected at exactly the right time. Ty had returned to the farm, Emma was looking for an excuse to get out of the city. She found one!
Both Emma & Ty wanted their wedding to reflect their lives on the farm: the theme that was given to the stylist was ‘rustic, farm vintage style’. They live in a 150 year old stone cottage on the farm which they both love and are renovating in 2017 to make a family home for generations to come.
Ty had proposed to Emma with his Nan’s wedding ring- his Nan & Pop had been married for 70 years. Emma had the privilege of wearing Nan’s ring whilst she was waiting for her engagement ring to be made, and took great pride in wearing it on the wedding day.
It was Emma’s maid of honour who discovered the wedding dress on a rack at Hobnob Bridal and said ‘I know you wouldn’t pick this yourself, but I’d really like you to try it on’. Emma loved it from the minute she put it on and just like that the search for the perfect dress was complete.
The wedding ceremony took place on the river at Matilda Bay. The bay created such a beautiful backdrop that it really only required a minimalistic set up. The styling consisted of wooden bistro chairs, a wooden arbor and plenty of lace parasols to shade guests on the 36’c spring day.
Emma’s cousin is a wedding stylist and owner of ‘The Dreamer & Collector’. Emma has admired watching Katie’s business grow over the last couple of years and entrusted Katie with the entire styling aspect of the wedding. She was confident for Katie to select the vendors she thought best suit.
The reception itself took place in a clear roof marquee on the front lawn of the Mounts Bay Sailing Club, overlooking the beautiful Swan River. The guest list was 170 people, who were seated in two rows of long tables down the marquee. The meal was a ‘feast’ style and guests enjoyed large share platters.
The guest danced the night away to live band, Bighorn Productions. Taking a breather every now and then to enjoy the view of the city lights and the warmth of a spring night in Perth.
The marquee was fitted out with crisscrossed festoon lighting and stunning pendant lighting over the bridal table. The tables were adorned with Australian wildflowers and soft candle light. Overhead hung a 5metre foliage installation (by Lime Flowers).
The raw look of the wooden tables matched in perfectly with the 170 mismatched vintage timber chairs. Around the marquee stood a polaroid and advice station. Styled rustically and adorned in foliage.
The dessert buffet was a hit and there were over 8 different sweet treats to choose from. Including toffee apples (a childhood favourite of the brides).
The couples favourite moments of the day were entering the giant marquee as husband and wife and having 170 people all standing and cheering for them, and their first dance together in the clear roofed marquee to the slightly unorthodox ‘dancing in the moonlight’ by Toploader.
