Eco Wedding at Walkabout Creek – Mel & Lindsay

Sophie from Sophie Baker Photography was fortunate enough to capture the lovely day of Mel & Lindsay’s Eco wedding at Walkabout Creek.  “Mel & Lindsay are environmental lovers, and their choice of venue couldn’t have been more suited. Nestled in the Australian Bush, they were married surrounded by their closest family, friends and wildlife. Both kind and soft in nature, it was a pleasure to watch the love between them. We spent the time after their ceremony wandering around the National Park taking their formal portraits. Every now and then, they both paused for a while to just take in the day, breath in the air and savour in the moment of the day together – it was beautiful to watch and to be able to photograph. Both wore a smile the entire day, and there was never a stressed note from either of them, it was wonderful to watch them simply enjoy the day to its core.”

After 10 years together, Lindsay popped the question to Mel last year on a suprise holiday to Hayman Island and when it came to their wedding day they both wanted a relaxed, informal, simple wedding where their friends & family could just have a great time (& they did says Mel!). So in the lead up, they stayed focused on what the day was about & didn’t stress about the details.

In the lead up to the wedding Mel injured her leg & was on crutches for 2 months so she had to shop for her dress online. “Luckily, I found great designers through Etsy! I could walk down the aisle, so we were very lucky,” recalls Mel.

The bridesmaid & flower girl’s outfits that were ordered from a different shop on Etsy unfortunately didn’t arrive in time, so they had to find their dresses 2 days before the wedding!

“One of our favourite parts of the day was walking around the National Park with the photographers after the ceremony – it was special.  We love the environment, so we really enjoyed this time together; relaxing & taking it all in.”

Mel included a few lovely handmade touches to their wedding day.  She made the Save the Date card, table numbers (with help from a friend), place cards (with help from her Mum), the table seating lists & decorated the wishing well box.
