As a Queenslander I’m a sun lover so I’ll never move from here, but I really must confess that the southern cities really do have some fabulous locations and businesses that sometimes have me questioning where I should call home. When I recently heard from the gorgeous girls from Dames of Distinction I had one of those green with envy moments for all of the lucky Melbourne ladies who can pop into this gorgeous salon whenever the mood takes them!
Just a little peek at the inside of their salon brings me back to my childhood with the retro furniture that looks just like my grandmothers. I think it is absolutely lovely that a couple of glamorous gals in Melbourne are bringing back the elegance of vintage inspired lingerie and beauty styling all in the one premises.
Dames of Distinction is a vintage parlour, combining a lingerie boutique and beauty salon hidden away in the beautiful Art Deco building, The Mitchell House (Melbourne, VIC).
We focus on the finishing touches, those details which complete an overall vintage look.
Within the lingerie boutique Jacinta will assist you in finding the correct vintage style undergarments. Available in store are collections by What Katie Did, Rago Shapewear and Little Skout, along with original deadstock pieces.
In the salon Margeaux tends to your grooming needs – styling your hair and makeup just like the starlets of the Golden Age: Monroe, Russell, Hepburn.
Available for all kinds of events and eager to transform you into your Dame of choice, circa 1920-1960.
Workshops are also held regularly to pass on tips and tricks so modern Dames are able to style themselves.
Vintage (half moon) manicures and nail art are also available through Hester of Silver Lining Nails.
All products used are cruelty free, with some vegan options available too.
