We are Twine are one of those wonderful Brisbane wedding photographers I fall in love with more and more each time I see their latest work. Their photographic style is so elegantly timeless, capturing those priceless split second glances and moments and I think it’s evident that Amanda’s wonderfully warm personality brings out the absolute best in every couple she works with. We delved in a little deeper recently to find out even more about We Are Twine.
Tell us the story behind choosing the name We Are Twine
Twine – “Strong thread consisting of two strands twisted together”
A couple entwined brings about two individuals coming together on a day of love and celebration.
The inspiration behind the name ‘We Are Twine’ is to showcase a couple’s intertwined love story, celebrating their relationship on their wedding day and the journey forward.
Tell us a little bit about the journey you went on to become a wedding photographer
I began my love of wedding photography at my own wedding six years ago. My wedding photographer, Denise Yates, was my inspiration. I fell in love with the anticipation, the romance and all the loved-up, unrepeatable moments.
I moved to Brisbane from Sydney in 2010 and was given an amazing opportunity to second shoot for Denise whilst studying a Certificate IV in Photoimaging and Diploma Visual Communication, not to mention, launch my own portrait and wedding business, Amanda Crocetti Photography.
In 2013, I rebranded to We Are Twine to specialise in capturing heartfelt weddings. I simply love documenting all the raw emotion on a couple’s day by sharing their unique story in pictures.
What are some of your favourite aspects of being a wedding photographer?
My favourite moments of being a wedding photographer are being part of a couple’s lives at a very joyful time in their lives. It truly is an honour to be welcomed into a family at a very joyful and emotive time in their lives.
Some of the favourite moments from a couple’s wedding day that are simply priceless includes the moment the bride reveals her gown in front of her loved ones, the priceless look on the groom’s face when his bride walks down the aisle and the tears of joy throughout the day.
Handing over a couple’s wedding images and being able to share a slideshow of their day whilst seeing their reactions is simply priceless and very rewarding. I am very fortunate to be in this profession!
Do you shoot digital and film or simply digital?
I shoot digital and play to the strengths of this by being able to capture many images within any given moment.
What are your favourite photographic styles when it comes to shooting weddings?
I love taking candid photos that document the day in an honest and heartfelt way. My style lends itself to documentary, capturing natural moments unobtrusively and creatively.
During the portrait time of the day, I offer guidance so couples feel relaxed, enjoy themselves and look great! I am constantly searching for new locations and making couples have fun whilst creating those romantic, whimsical and spontaneous images.
Can you share with us a little more information on your photography packages and what is included?
Packages include a range of hours to best tailor to each couple’s day and their wedding photography wishes. Two wedding photographers are included in each package, myself and a second professional photographer. Also included are high and low resolution images carefully edited and enhanced, a pre-wedding meeting and location meeting.
Couple’s can choose to add to their package with different products such as beautiful hand-crafted and customed designed albums, professional prints, as well as frames, canvases and block mounts.
When you aren’t behind the camera what do you enjoy spending your time doing?
When I’m not photographing weddings, I love café hopping, retail therapy, getaways to the beach, laughing, exercising (yes, I’m working on my guns), and simply chilling out. But, most importantly, spending time with my hubby, family and friends.
Do you have a limit of how many couples you book a month and when is the best time for a couple to book in with you for wedding photography?
My limit for weddings is 3-4 per month. The best time to book is approximately 12 months out, simply giving couples more time to search for their favourite vendors and venues before they are booked.
Do you offer engagement packages or pre-wedding shoots?
Absolutely! An engagement shoot is a great idea for couples to experience a photography session together, becoming more at ease in front of the camera and have a feel for what is like on the day. It’s also a wonderful way to great to know each other more before the big day. Most importantly, it is a way of celebrating their engagement, having some beautiful memories at this particular stage together.
Do you walk through locations before the wedding / with the couple before hand?
I love to have the option of a location meeting to walk through the locations of a couple’s big day. It’s a great opportunity for couples to prioritize their ‘hot spots’ for the day so the day runs smoothly and has a clear direction.
