With their first meeting over a Melbourne Bitters and the Sherin Match ball at the Community Cup, Nina & Vince were destined to have a truly Melbourne wedding.
“Never one’s to do things by the book, we’d already made the biggest commitment to each other long before walking down the isle, in the form of our son Leroy. He is the incarnation of how, why and how we do love each other, so a wedding for the Propsting- Jones collective was really like having our cake and eating it too.”
Their wedding was a long time in the workings and once the date was set there was a wave of excitement from their nearest and dearest. Many of their wedding elements had a very personal touch with their talented friends contributing by making the cake and floral arrangements.
“The hardest part was finding a venue. It didn’t have to be unique, it didn’t have to be hidden, it didn’t have to be trendy, and having a winter wedding in Melbourne it also had to be indoors! Most importantly we wanted somewhere we could revisit, somewhere we could make memories and come back to share, relive and enjoy. And the Convent was that place. With wonderful gardens, sprawling green lawns, the animals and the farm- we knew this was the place we could come back and celebrate our anniversary with a picnic and frisbee as well as take people too and say ‘Yeah! We got married here’.”
“The key to any good wedding is the food, the company and the vino. So we made sure we had all three in bucketloads. The day was relaxed and easy- nothing too fancy or over the top. We wanted the wedding to reflect us, how and who we are, but also the people who have made us, well ‘us’. We just chose all our favourite things and tied them up in out own Wedding ribbon. We chose the food we like, the clothes we liked, the flowers we liked and it was that simple. And on the day it looked, felt, smelled and tasted amazing. You couldn’t wipe the smile off our faces.”
