Megan & Alex’s Vintage Euroa Butter Factory Wedding

Being a wedding blog and wedding expo organiser, I am lucky enough to see a lot of gorgeous wedding pictures but every now and then there is one that really pulls on my heartstrings. I’m so overjoyed to be able to share with you all the special moments of the beautiful couple Megan & Alex on their wedding day.  Now firstly I’m #sorrynotsorry for sharing so many images of their wedding day as I couldn’t skip all of the really honest and emotional moments captured by photographers Mister + Lady.  Be sure to grab a hanky before scrolling down as you are likely to have a tear or two in your eyes as you are swept up in the truly heartfelt moments of their special day.  What happiness it brings to see such love between a couple on their wedding day!

“The vibe we were going for was relaxed and intimate and we definitely achieved this with the amazing rustic atmosphere the the Butter Factory provides, and my simplistic styling, everything really worked so well together.”

Megan & Alex also decided to go for black and white when styling their wedding day.   “It’s not very often that you see a black and white wedding these days so it was really special for us to be so dressed up and looking so formal. We loved it!”

The bridesmaids’ dresses were designed by the bride and handmade by dressmaker Donna Somers from Upstairs Designs, Bundaberg. Megan flew to Bundaberg throughout the year for other engagements and had fittings with the bridesmaids when possible.

“We visited two venues prior to the Euroa Butter Factory, third time lucky we like to think. We knew when we had our first meeting at the Butter Factory that it was special, it had great options, indoor, outdoor, friendly faces, accomodation on site, which was great for the family travelling interstate, but most importantly we felt comfortable and really at home. It had this wholesome and homeliness about it, and we could visualise our day happening there.”

Megan’s favourite memory was Alex’s emotional reaction as she walked down the aisle and throughout the ceremony, “To my surprise, he was the most emotional I have ever seen him. It was really special to see, as he has always been the strong one in our relationship that is the glue that holds me together, instead on our special day I was that for him. I felt empowered and strong to support him.”

“I found my dress on High Street, Armadale, Melbourne at The Bridal Atelier. It was not only where I found the dress where I would be married in, but the place I had the best experience. The ladies were lovely, they made me feel special and comfortable. I felt like I got the full experience with them, they were honest and even had a glass of bubbles to celebrate. I even had the complete cry moment when my sisters and mum saw me. They started crying, then I started crying, and then we were all crying. Even though we walked outta there completely sobbing and with mascara everywhere we had found the dress!

Once I found the dress, I knew I wanted to add a little bit of detail to it to make it completely my own, so I searched and sourced some beautiful guipure lace from Tylers Fabrics in Richmond. Along with the help of my dress alterer Parisima in Port Melbourne, we added the lace over the shoulders and around the seams on the back. This completely changed the look of my dress from modern and edgy to classic, vintage and one of a kind. It was simple but beautiful. I am so happy with how it turned out.”

A secret and special scotch whisky homebrew recipe from Megan’s hometown of Bundaberg, Queensland was made by a family friend Jim Coup for their bomboniere for all of the gents. Recycled glass bottles were used as the scotch bottles. The ladies received a test-tube filled with tea leaves from T2 called PASSION which is a mixture of hibiscus, lemongrass, cardamon, jasmine, cloves, rose, mallow flowers and ginger.  These two gifts were chosen to reflect the couples favourite drinks. “Alex loves a good scotch, and I can easily down five cups of tea in a single day! We wanted to make it personal. All of the bomboniere’s were hand-made by Alex and myself, with the help of mum (Liz) and my sister Katelyn.”
